Update: January 24, 2022:
Success! Mail-in ballots will be available to those who request one.
On November 22, Council was presented with a report recommending that mail-in ballots be utilized at identified special voting areas only (e.g. long-term care homes). I spoke about how this excludes those who may be immunocompromised, who may have mobility issues but not own a vehicle, and who may not live in identified areas that provide for mail-in ballot voting. If the pandemic has taught us anything, it's that we can design for -- or to mitigate -- barriers that exclude marginalized folks.
BCA Councillors and I will continue to push for accessible voting for all.
